CuraCare Becomes A Dementia Action Alliance Member

DAA

CuraCare is pleased to announce that we have joined the Dementia Action Alliance.

The number of people living with dementia in the UK is set to more than double over the next 40  years, rising to an estimated 1.7 million by 2051.

The purpose of the Dementia Action Alliance in Richmond is to help local businesses and organisations to become dementia friendly. Richmond DAA wants to create a community that has a good understanding of dementia and is committed to helping people to live well with dementia.

The DAA produced a report in 2012 that found several unfortunate statistics about people with dementia including:

  • 77% of people with dementia feel anxious or depressed
  • 67% of people with dementia do not always feel a part of the community
  • 44% of people with dementia feel they have lost friends after being diagnosed

As such, CuraCare is proud to help towards making a dementia friendly community in the Richmond borough, where we provide care services to a number of people living with dementia.  To find out more about how CuraCare is getting involved, please visit Richmond DAA’s website.
